Please do not use a sunbed for 24 hours before having a wax, and refrain from using Retin A derived products for 5 days before, as these will compromise the skin. Hair must be a minimum of 0.5cm for the wax to grip (usually around 3 - 4 weeks growth).
It is normal for the area to go red after having a hair removal treatment, and not uncommon for small, raised bumps and slight soreness to be present in the area, particularly if it is your first time. These contra-actions will usually subside within 24 - 48 hours after your treatment.
Skin grazing (or skin lifting) can occasionally occur after a waxing treatment, causing an abrasion similar to scraping your knee. Often mistaken for a burn, this does not always appear in the area immediately, and can sometimes not become apparent until a day or two after the treatment. It can occur if the skin has been compromised due to factors such as the environment, chemicals, or even foreign substances (such as pollen or artificial fragrance), or if the skin is dry or dehydrated, and does not always show obvious signs on the skin for your therapist to know beforehand. If you experience any skin grazing after your treatment, please let us know as soon as you so we can advise you, and apply a cold compress to the area. If cared for appropriately, skin grazing will heal within a few days and leave no lasting damage to the skin.
After your hair removal treatment, please avoid the following for 24 hours:
It is common to experience a slight regrowth within the first week or two following a hair removal treatment, as the hairs will be at different stages of their cycle (of which there are three). Due to this same reason, your first few treatments may not leave a completely smooth result, as there may be shorter hairs the wax cannot grip. Regular treatments every 4 - 6 weeks will allow the hairs to 'catch up' with one another and fall into the same regrowth cycle. It can take a few regular treatments for this to happen and to gain smoother results that can eventually last up to 6 weeks at a time.
